My doctor gave me Valium to help stop drinking but it did nothing but make me not be able to sleep.l know that might sound strange but l felt nothing from taking it other than in insomnia.It made me sick.It made me think too much and it just was not a good experience.Why would it affect me completely different than other people?

Valium is typically given to calm nervousness. If l were you l would see another doctor. There are other drugs far more suited to help you with your problem.

That makes no sense to me. Valium is a med used to calm a person down. Why on earth would a Dr give that to u for drinking. l fail to see how that would help u stop. l would if l were u l would look up alcoholics anonymous close to ur area in ur phone book & start attending those meetings. You would have a much better chance of stopping with some help from those who know what ur going threw & can give u the tools needed to cope. Do not get me wrong ur on the right path, to even realize & to know u have a problem is the 1st step of recovery. WAY TO GO!!! this is the best advice l can give you. l am very proud of u for trying to get help to stop it takes a bigger man to take on the battle & overcome the problem, then a smaller man who will just wallow in-self pity. As far as why it effected u differently. many medications effect people in different ways my friend. That is why they say never share medicine with friends :) Best of luck to u my friend l will be pulling for you!!!!
