It sounds like u have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). It means u repeat certain things obsessively. l had the same problem for a number of years. l could not do anything connected with even numbers. When emptying the dishwasher, l had to take out either one plate or three, not two or four. l could not leave class at 2:30, l had to wait until 2:31. l would count how many stairs l stepped on when walking up a flight of stairs & would have to hop over the last one if it was an even one.
Eventually it got to the point where my whole day was just counting & l realized l had a problem.
Then l forced myself to just stop. l forced myself to take two dishes out of the dishwasher or step on that 24th step - & found that nothing happened to me.
It took me a long time, but l made small changes & eventually managed to stop all of my obsessive habits. You can not change everything at once, but try forcing yourself to change one of ur habits & then another & then another.
l know some people who have seriously hurt themselves due to their OCD (jumping across their room from one bed to another fifty times a night before going to bed, having to run across a street when they see a certain house number regardless of the traffic etc), so l really recommend trying to stop ur habits by yourself or seeking professional help if u can not.
Part of ur problem may also be that u developed ur rituals to fill a certain emptiness in ur life, so finding some more hobbies or being more social if you're not may also help.
It is hard, but remember that nothing bad will happen to u if u stop. Grit ur teeth & force yourself not to do one of ur rituals tonight & u will see that you're fine. Maybe have a friend or family member sit with u & give u encouragement if u feel u will cave.
Good luck!

Well you're not alone.. l find l have OCD type qualities too. (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) But l just consider myself a very organized person. like before l go to bed, l always cross off the day on my calendar with a black sharpie .. not a pen, a sharpie. And l remember one day after my boyfriend had a shower in my bathroom, l noticed all my shampoo & conditoner & facewash bottles were re-arranged & the lid on my bodywash was not snapped shut. & he did not hang the bath mat over the side of the tub. So even though l did not truly HAVE too, l put every back where it belonged. Maybe l have a mild case, but u r not alone in feeling like u have weird rituals. but u like to throw everything away? So u r the opposite of a pack rat. Do u throw things away that u no longer need? or r they things u love, but u do it anyway? seeing a phychiatrist might be a good idea, just so u can get a diagnosis. maybe he or she will say u r perfectly normal.. who knows.. anyways Good Luck!

This can be early signs of OCD. The essential features of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder are recurrent obsessions or compulsions [criteria a] that are severe enough to be time consuming or cause marked distress or significant impairment[criteria b]. At some point during the course of the disorder, the person has recognized the obsessions or compulsions are excessive or unreasonable[criteria c].
