Started out with cyclothymia, and within 6 months, it was upgraded to BP II.Frankly though, I am scared of the medications.I am allergic to everything, and if I am not, either it does not work, or l get the crappy side-effects...l mean, it is not so bad.l can just go on like this and learn to cope with it, right...?l mean...what is the worst that could happen?

You could end up killing yourself or someone else. Trust me. My sister has this and every now and then she just flips out about nothing and says she is gonna kill us for not believing her side of the story, and the look in her eyes is terrifying. you do NOT want to end up like that. Go to the doctor and get on some meds. and stay on them.

It is going to get worse, and your more than likely going to flip out not even noticing it.

l would still seek help, try just one anti depressant.

make sure your not allergic to anything thats in the new medication, im sure there is something out there for you..

Or it is all in the brain and talk yourself through it, have positive thoughts, take walks, etc etc..

Well it all depends how bad is your case?
Because you can try coping with it but it may not work.

l totally understand. l suffer with Anxiety disorder and l am afraid of the medication too. But l figure, it has to be better than living with the disorder.and if the medication has too many bad side effects you can always ask for a different medication until you find the one that works for you but l do suggest you try. My cousin had Bipolar disorder and she tried to kill herself 3 times so you never know who you may harm.

The worst that can happen is you will lose your friends/boyfriend. Being around someone that has bipolar is a huge challenge. You really need to sit down with your doctor, there are medications that have the ingrediants that your not allergic to.

You could wake up one day and decide it is not worth it anymore during a depressive episode and without thinking take your life. This happened to my mother who was also Bipolar and took medication then decided to stop her medication. It was a split second decision she can never take back, she left behind 2 children and a loving husband.

My mother never got treatment for bipolar & l hate her! She has nothing nice to say about anyone or anything, She shows lack of emotion towards others, she is completely negative & emotional. Her moods shift like crazy. She does not think clearly about things she says or does. She is manipulative, sick & bizarre. She is a narcissistic mother who believes there is no such thing as a mental illness that u control ur mind & ur actions before the illness. It is too bad she does not understand its her mind that controls her.

l personal do not care what u choose to do but l know l hate my mother & they way she sees an treats others & l have nothing to do with her anymore.

an untreated case of bp is a walking time bomb.
you can not just ignore it. it wo not go away.
my wife is bp and without her meds, she would already be dead.
it is not something you want to mess around with.
talk to your doctor and explain the side effects of the meds. he or she can change them.

l also have cyclothymia. l am weening off my meds. Like you , I've tried everything and the side effects or whatever are not worth it. l do not really feel better with or w/out them. l am reading a book called New Help for Bipolar. It talks about ways to help you manage this roller coster. There are many books on this topic.

Please, l beg of you.. do not go without medication.. You WILL eventually go completely crazy, end up in a mental hospital..kill yourself.. etc.. It is terrible and l know because my 38 year old and only got diagnosed 8 years ago and by 30 she had already done many crazy things. Just please do not go untreated.

l know exactly what u r talking about with the side effects & allergic reactions to the medication but ur medication can be changed or adjusted just let ur doctor know. You have to give yourself system time to adjust to the medication as well, at least 1 month before u get an adjustment. The lower the dosage the less side effects u may experience so ask them to lower the dosage. This disorder must be managed with medications & therapy because it can potentially be dangerous to yourself & others. In the news a parent killed hisself & his children during a psychotic episode, he was diagnosised with bipolar disorder as a teenager.

This disorder can become dangerous at anytime. For ur safety & others take ur medication regularly & communicate with ur therapist he can adjust ur medication if needed.

l have BP II. It is manageable without medication, but you need to keep a very close eye on yourself and your symptoms. It can get out of hand very fast. Good luck!
