Hi, I am 17 and I've been feeling kind of weird.

l have not been feeling particularly sad or mopey lately (I've had plenty of happy times over the last few months), but suddenly l can not fall asleep at night, but when l do l sleep for 10+ hours if uninterrupted.

l used to love to read for pleasure, but now l just can not get into it. l also used to write with ease, but now l feel like l have no creativity. I've always been a very motivated person, but now l can not even start anything. l procrastinate way more. l never listen to that little voice in your head that tells you to do things.

And l always knew what l wanted to do with my life and college and stuff, but now I am doubtful and l feel like l have not accomplished enough to do what l want.

I am irritableand snap at people sometimes. And even though l do not feel really sad, it always looks like people around me are happier and more lively.

Is it depression, or am l just going through a phase? or stress?

hmmm sounds like depression go to a shrink and get their opinion. did anything sad happen to you recently cuz that might be the cause too

yes sounds like depression, do not have to suffer a major loss or death to become depressed, sounds like you may just be falling idle which is well on the way to depression go to a counselor , hey it never hurts, you may discover something you did not even know was bothering you that much

According to my psychiatrist all the symptoms are of depression. According to me it is just a phase. l have been going through the same things lately. l believe that we all reach a point in which nothing makes sense. You will get it over with. Do not think it is depression..you will only be bringing yourself down. We always think that other people around us are happier, but in reality we can be happier than them. Think positive!
