I heard that if you stay isolated for a certain amount of time you go insane. Is this true?

im not insane.. l isolate myself all the time lol its actually more peaceful and it keeps me sane

yep that is true, because..I'M INSANE!

Depends on your mental Stability..some do go mad(they arent used to being alone or have other mental problem). other prefer being by themselves..it lets them think.

Isolating l think for most people is not normal and is probably an indicator that there is an underlying problem. we are social animals as human beings and need that stimulation.People in isolation for long periods in some prisons have been observed as being driven to mental break down and deemed as cruel and unusual punishment!

Long periods of time alone can send people into a depressive state,emotional breakdown or make them feel like going crazy.
More specifically, a kind of panic sets in when they realize they’re alone with their own thoughts with no one to affirm or deny the validity of what they’re thinking. When they’re by themselves for too long, they start to question their own understanding of reality— who they really r & what the world is really like.

When we reduce the amount of ''normal social interaction, of reasonable mental stimulus, of exposure to the natural world, of almost everything that makes life human & bearable, we make ourselves emotionally, physically, & psychologically destructive.

Individuals do vary in how well they can deal with living in isolation, however Social Isolation & Withdrawal has been proved to cause mental & emotional breakdown, that we call “craziness” ” or “ insanity”

Without certain or enough stimuli, the level of random activity in the nervous system increases—such as brain activity causes hallucinations & if the brain is not receiving much input from the environment, there is little information based in reality that the unconscious could focus on or try to interpret.

l have being living in near semi-isolation & l cannot get help! Much similar from self-imposed isolation of Howard Hughes, where fear prevented him, his life from social engagement. l have become very apathetic & l do not seem to care about anything anymore. l just do not feel like doing anything. l get sick a lot too now. l simply have lost hope & l feel dead inside.
