l have just found out tonight l have ADD and it is overwhelming for me. Yep l am a fidgeter who puts scars all over my arms and legs all the time and get bored so often l cannot focus as l end up day dreaming a lot if l worked and that is why l either had to resign from my past work or lost my job, and this happend all the time. l am on disability and even as l type this l am so resless. l am so glad l take rovotrill at night to help me sleep otherwise l would be up all night most nights.l have trouble sitting still and always get up, my mind is stressed out bad when this happens. so stressed. so yes it was a shock to find this out tonight. my parents put me in a special school when l was a child but took me out and put me in a normal private school and l payed for it by living a living hell. l will not get into it. But l am just wondering if ADD medication like Ritalin etc have side effects and does it calm your mind down? l need to know if it calms your mind down? sometimes l talk like l am on speed as l am not a drug taker. never have been. l am living a living hell being like this. anyone on here who have ADD who can relate to me? and please tell me if add meds calm your mind down.
william true everyone has different reactions from different drugs. l just hope l do not have any on add meds. l am a bit scared to take it though
izzi sounds like you do not know anything about ADD or ADHD. shaving your eyebrows of is not a common symptom of it. and sports will not help calm a sufferer down as l used to be an athlete and it not help my mind. but l only found out tonight l have it. It is more then being hyper it is more in depths than that. go and google it and read about it itis a living hell trust me

For your med questions you need to talk to a dr. Not get advice from the internet on something like that. As for as asking if worked for someone thats fine but no one can tell you what it will do for you. Good luck!

My brother has ADHD, and his meds seem to help him alot. But l am not him so l really dont know if they help.

the best solution for my friend was she started to play 2 different sports so he mind and energy was put on that and it really helped her to calm down

in primary school she was so hyped up that she shaved her eyebrows off

l do not have ADD or personally know anyone with ADD or ADHD but my sister is a high school teacher & knows many kids with it. You need to go back to the person who diagnosed ur ADD & ask what to do about it. You cannot get proper from someone on 7 . You must get professional help. This is a must! You could start by eating fresh fruit & veges & stop using food that is canned, packaged or bottled that contains food additives, colourings and/or preservatives. It has been proven in many tests that these additives etc. r the cause of many ADD or ADHD sufferers. Years ago, when l was a kid, there were no such things on the market & nobody had ADD or ADHD then. Work it out for yourself, then go get some help.

Yes the meds will help you calm down and focus, that is what they're for. You have nothing to lose by trying and so much to gain. There might be side affects but compared to the symptoms you're describing they are minor and if one medication does not work well for you there are others to try until you find the one that does.
