l have had sleeping problems since before taking chemo. its all ready been 2 years since my last treatment and my sleeping patterns are still lousy. does anyone think that you might mentally fight sleep. or am l the only person.

l think that is certainly a possibility! You should ask a doctor, or some one who might know. If u just cant find a normal sleep cycle, then l have some tips:
If u wait to go to bed until ur sleepy, that can mess things up (especially if you've just been watching tv or on the computer; the screen light tricks ur brain into feeling more awake & can cause problems when u try to sleep) However, if you're in bed trying to fall asleep, but u can not until you're sleepy then that is fine. You can not help when u fall asleep as long as you're in bed.
Also, getting in bed at the same time each night can help u create a cycle & get used to falling asleep, so u will automatically get tired at that time. Another trick is to stop reading & doing other things that r not sleep related in ur bed. Subconsciously, u will associate ur bed with just sleep, & you're chair or whatever it is u used, with reading & anything else.
l also strongly recommend avoiding sleeping pills, u become dependent on them & they have some negative side affects. One last trick is to listen to a quiet song on repeat as u fall asleep (put it on when u start to feel sleepy) l did & pretty soon l got sleepy whenever l heard the song!
