l just started taking Lamictal, it is used for Bipolar or epilepsy, l am taking it for Bipolar, and it seems like after l started taking it l feel even worse. after l was on it for about 3 weeks l started feeling like l was getting angry really easily and had a short circuit. like today l just lay in bed because anything l do makes me upset, sometimes l just lay in bed and cry because l get really depressed, l did not feel like this before l was on it......my heart just starts beating really fast and then l get so angry, which is not like me at all. l even thought about cutting myself this morning which l have not done for over 2 years. my doctor is not in until monday so l will be calling him then...but has anyone had a similar experience on lamictal? or know anything about those medications?
he does not have an answering service, l go to a place that is for people that do not have health insurance so they are only open mon-fri and there is no way to leave a message, and it got worse when l took a higher dosage
Buddy: it was just funny that you said you were on those 2 certain medications because Zyprexa made me gain 30 pounds and Depakote made me lose half my hair!!! but l hear they work great for some people..

l have heard of this from soldiers of mine. You need a doseage adjustment. Dont stress but if you are really worried go to the ER or call the doctors answering service.

yes it did for me. but cheer up. l know you can feel better. you look so happy in your picture. try to get abck to that. if you some help l will be hear. coping skills are the key

l use lamictal, but l use it alongside several other antidepressants: wellbutrin, and effexor. It took a lot of trial and error to get the right mixture of meds and the right dosages, but once everything 'mixed' right, l was a new person. Believe me, before that l was a mess. You and your doc may have to try some different meds until you find just the right one. It will be worth it. Hang in there.

See your doctor or who ever is controlling your medication. They might change your dosages and if that do not work then they may change your medication. Right now l am on Zyprexa 20mg once a day and Depakote ER 500 mg 4 times a day. So far so good but it took me a long time to get the right set up with medication. It took about 6 to 8 weeks before l started feeling better with the medications. This is also for bipolar and things are good, but you still have really bad days.

l have been on Lamictal. While only a doctor can make this decision on what to do, l decided to write to u because l had many problems with medications. In fact, my doctor had tried multiple trials on different classes of meds. l started to feel like it was me, but l really tired to hang in there. My doctor would tell me what l can experience & than make the call to adjust to change the drug. Please, l know this is very frustrating, but this is not uncommon. Some people respond very well to these meds & others, like me, have to keep trying. l will not lie to you, for me, it has been very hard to keep trying a different medication, but l have a good doctor that did not give up. It is important that u keep communicating with u doctor. Everyone has a different reaction to these medications & sometimes it takes a few to get to the one that helps. Do not give up. Hang in there. You will get better.
