no even if you agreed to sign in you do not just sign yourself out, you are on a hold for a few days

It depends - the police will hold u under a section 136, which can only be removed by a section 12 approved doctor. If u were taken to a psychiatric ward & assessed by the doctor, then they will either have admitted u as a voluntary patient (in which case u can leave the ward), or they will have admitted u under a section 2, which means u r not allowed to leave the ward for 28 days unless the doctors agree.

However, even if u agreed voluntarily to stay in hospital, if u want to leave & staff feel u r a danger to yourself or to others, they can hold u on a section 5 - nurses can hold u on that for 6 hours until a doctor, ANY doctor, not necessarily a psychiatrist, can convert it to a longer detention.
